This Marquette keeps it light without compromising structure or intensity of dark red fruit flavor.

Variety: 100% Marquette

Vineyard: McCabe’s Brook

Location: Shelburne, VT

Alcohol: 14%

Total production: 45 cases

Light-bodied but with a lot of oomph, like raw silk; medium+ acidity. Firm tannins bounce off the tongue with a refreshing and brief carbonic zip. serious cherry and snappy plum intertwine and complement a smooth, structured backbone.

21-day carbonic maceration, followed by foot tread and 15 day whole-cluster fermentation before pressing into a stainless steel tank. The wine went through spontaneous malolactic fermentation, and was aged on lees until bottling. Spontaneously fermented, unfined, and unfiltered.

A slightly western aspect and north-south row orientation allow for maximum sunlight and exposure to prevailing winds. Soils are deep, well drained, sandy loams formed on sandy deltas, beaches and terraces that are underlain by medium-textured lacustrine deposits. This vineyard is also the site for trials with organic and biodynamic philosophies.
